I sit here on a lovely evening composing my Annual Canada Day missive with dappled light on my notepad.
I have spent some time reviewing previous posts to determine if I have already said all that there is to say.
Well, I have been eloquent in that past and have waxed poetic on occasion about our Great Country and my Gratitude for being here … some may use the term verbose ~ but I disagree.
Even taking into consideration all of my previous posts, I have not said enough.
There are subtleties. In fact, one of the most-heard comments when asked to describe Canada is that we cannot define it.
Other Countries have well-defined images in the world.
France ~ Lovers, not Fighters.
America ~ Mom, Apple Pie and Guns.
Iceland – Natural Beauty and a Penis Museum (Really).
~~~
How to define our Great Country?
I believe it is in the subtleties. The kindness, politeness and welcoming nature of our citizenry.
The pockets of our Nation where people still do not lock their doors and have no reason to.
That every murder is still news and not an everyday occurrence.
The great expanse ~ the comfort that there is room to breathe and, thanks to our prolific greenery, that the air we breathe is clean and pure.
As I write this, on my lovely deck, in my lovely home, in my lovely City, in my Awesome Country, I can vaguely hear my neighbours doing the same.
I am a free individual, a part of a community and a citizen of the Best Place on Earth.
I am thankful.
Happy Canada Day!
