- Time
- Money
- Effort
This post applies to all of the above and trying to find the right balance in life for ourselves.
- Time
~ Spend We are all obligated and required to spend some of our time on such as work, chores and general social obligations that keep our lives going.
~ Save How to save time? It really cannot be banked but you can become more efficient in completing what you have to do.
~ Give Hopefully, the last point will add to the amount of time you have to give – to yourself and to others.
~ Therefore
- do what is needed
- save some for yourself
- give as much as you can
- Money
~ Spend As in time, we have obligations that ensure we have food, shelter and clothing. It is also important to put a monetary value on experiences, travel and pleasure items.
~ Save Don’t spend everything all the time … be conscious of the unknown.
~ Give What we need is more basic than we often think and there are others with much less.
~ Therefore
- spend only what is needed and on things of value
- save some for security and future needs
- give any excess – small or large – we only need so much
- Effort
~ Spend Our world makes so many demands on us – having to always be ‘On’ is the norm now. A lot of our physical daily effort is used just keeping up with the whirlwind that is life. Being Spent at the end of a day is no longer defined by a full, interesting, positive day. It often now means that our tank is empty when we finally end our day and it has passed unremarkably. We run to catch up instead of choosing what is important.
~ Save Saving effort is challenging. It is needed to be able to say No – not just to others but to ourselves. Downtime is important.
~ Give Giving our efforts is a great gift to ourselves. Stepping up has value.
~ Therefore
- our days are precious – evaluate what you spend them on
- you don’t need to expend all available effort each day – save some in reserve
- give of yourself, be generous
So where is the balance? Where is the Reward?
In fact, the biggest reward from following the above is the gift of giving – to yourself and others of your time, money and effort. Don’t get lost in the speed of today’s world. Actively and consciously find the balance of these resources each day and enjoy the pleasure of a life well lived with value-added memories and relationships.
Aim high.
