The night is still.
Yet the leaves of the bamboo dance with the touch of the raindrops.
Beautiful. I love it when the world is still.
I do not care for the wind.
All other weather that I have experienced – thunderstorms, torrential downpours, heat waves, cold snaps, snow storms … no issue.
As one of my favorite comedians says “It is not That the wind is blowing, it is What the wind is blowing!” (Ron White)
It is the unpredictability of it …

Many cultures have developed metaphors, proverbs and adages about the wind – all affording it power in our lives.
“It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good.” (naval proverb)
“The earth has ears, the wind has a voice.” (Turkish proverb)

For me, perhaps, it is also that I prefer to see things coming.
A storm gives us time to prepare.
I remind myself that not knowing the future is what makes our lives interesting – and, at times, this form of ignorance is truly bliss!
Had I known, even 5 years ago, what was in store for me, I don’t know that I would have found the strength or hope needed to get through it all.
There is a reason that our lives unfold as they do … I guess the wind is not so bad after all.

And so, I leave you with the following:
“Regretting the past is like chasing after the wind.” (Lebanese proverb)
“Be in readiness for the favorable winds.” (Chinese proverb)
Beautiful post Linda … wind at your back, keep them coming, darling.
Thank you, Cindy … thoughts from a windy night …
